Vishwaroopam from January 11th

Kamal Hassan's Vishwaroopam has been confirmed to release at the start of next year during the Pongal reason. Official reports have confirmed that the film will be hitting the screens from the 11th of January. Earlier reports have indicated that the movie will go out in 3000 screens across the globe with Auro 3D technology.

Vishwaroopam appears to be Kamal Hassan's most magnificent project and has been postponed several times in the last six months. However, in recent weeks, the audio launch of the film has been much under speculation after the track list was released online. Now, it appears that the audio launch will happen in the next few days making room for promotions over the next month. Meanwhile, the other films releasing this Pongal, Alex Pandian, Aadhibhagavan and Madha Gaja Raja will face stiff competition. We might even see one of them pull out of the race.

Andrea's director confirms IG report

A few days back IndiaGlitz carried a snippet that Andrea Jeremia would play a nude model in 'Endrendrum Punnagai', but there would be nothing vulgar about the scenes involving her.
Ahmed, who is directing the film, has now said that the actress would be "wearing a nude colour costume for a modelling scene' in 'Endrendrum Punnagai'.
He also added that this could not be considered as going nude for the role and they are planning to get a U certificate for the film, from the Censor Board.
Starring Jiiva, Trisha, Vinay and Andrea in lead roles, 'Endrendrum Punnagai' is taking shape fast. Set in urban background, the film is touted as a rom-com.

'Genius cost Rs. 12 cr, will be a trend-setter'

Dasari Kiran, who has been into real estate business, was inspired to produce Genius when he heard Chinni Krishna's story.  Initially the estimate was Rs. 6 cr but being confident about the subject, he went on to splurge Rs. 12 cr.
"This will be a trend-setter.  Genius will be this year's best film.  What Khaidi was for Chiranjeevi, what Shiva was for Nag and what Aadi was for NTR, this film will be of that importance for Havish.  Though he is a newcomer, Omkar (Director) worked very hard for 11 months," he said.
He said that Chinni Krishna was like a Shankar.  "After Narasimha, Narasimha Naidu, Indra, Gangotri and Bandrinath, he has written an amazing story.  Paruchuri Brothers, who have written for 315 films, have written excellent dialogues.  Vissu's screenplay is another big highlight," he said.
The film is sold out, except the Nizam area rights, which will be clinched soon.  "We will release Genius on December 21," he said.

Chota K Naidu's unforgettable moment

As the Director of Photography for Damarukam, Chota K Naidu has showed his knack yet again.  Speaking at the success meet of this latest blockbuster, he said that he was congratulated personally by Dasari Narayana Rao.
"I worked with Dasari garu for seven years.  He would always say that my work was good.  He would not say more.  However, after watching Damarukam, he invited me to his house, arranged a dinner party for me, and appreciated my work, saying that the photography for Damarukam was excellent.  I will never forget that moment," he said.
He described Anushka as a golden actress.

As a producer it is my right to book in advance - Aamir Khan

Actor turned producer.. B-town perfectionist Aamir Khan defends the so called 'unhealthy' pre booking practiced witnessed during the release of JTHJ and SOS by saying its fine for a producer to book in advance but also maintains that he is not conscious about the 100 cr club thing and still feels nervous before his new release...
Talaash - another SRK rejection comes your way like 3 Idiots..?
No that is irrelevant to me. I am not concerned with what other people have liked or not liked. I am not bothered about it. I am only bothered of whether i liked it or not.
Is there any war between three Khans?
I don't know...i don't give it importance. Is there a war between me and Shahrukh right now?..... So it's of no consequence to me. My best wishes where there for Yashji's last film Jab Tak hai Jaan which Shahrukh is a part of. I wish the best to Salman as well for his film which is coming up during Christmas. So i am hoping both the film does well and so does Talaash.
Then why such unhealthy practices noticed during SOS and JTHJ release.... your comment.?
I would not like to comment on this issue. Ajay is a friend of mine and so is Yashji, Adi and Shahrukh. So i don't want to comment on it at all. As far as film releases go, i think that i personally feel that if a film producer has planned his release in advance and announce the release date in advance and i come to the agreement with the theatres and book them...whatever requirement i have, if the theatre agrees to give me that time, then there is nothing wrong. As a producer it is my right to book the theatre. If my judgement tells me that i need two weeks for a film and if the theatre gives it to me, then there is nothing wrong. I am not commenting on any one film, I am talking generally. My stance will remain the same.

You have book the theatres for 2 weeks for Talaash. Akshay's Khiladi 786 might face the music.?
I have no idea which film is coming before us and after us. I am hoping they have taken two weeks at least because i want to make sure all the people who want to see my film got to see it. That is appropriate release planning. The theatre is not bound to give me two weeks. They might decide to give me one week or not even screen my films; a theatre can refuse to screen my film too. This is what open market is all about. Both sides have to agree on terms. I know of cases when the producers are so confident of their film that they want an open run. An open run is that I will release my film in your theatre and you will not take it off until I tell you to. So if the business becomes less, i will give you a minimum guarantee. So the terms are different for different films at different times. These are individual agreements for individual films and theatres. For eg: You are a theatre owner, you have a choice of two films. Two films happen to be releasing the same day, one is 3 idiots and the other is peepli live or dhobi ghat. You have a choice after a week, you can either run 3 idiots or Peepli lIve, which one will you opt for. I am not forcing you; you are at your free will deciding that you will have one film over the other. No single screen can be forced into anything. I don't see anything wrong with this. The question of bigger or smaller needs to be decided by you (Theatre owner). I am a theatre owner and i want to make sure that i want to earn money, which film will I take. What i would do is that, I would tell Peepli live or Dhobighat that right now i need 2-3 weeks for this film, come to me after that and i will run your film.

Do you still get nervous before a film releases?
Yes. I want to run for cover. i get very nervous before a release. I just try to go into a shell. Sometimes i feel we have made a good film and people will love it, sometimes i feel they won't. It's like being in love. Sometime you feel she loves me and sometimes you feel she didn't think of me at all. We all hope that we will not be screwed up on Friday.
You are conscious about 100 crore club thing?
I have never looked at figures. 4 films have been made on Bhagat Singh in a period of 8 months and the last of the four have not done well. One month later, Rakyesh Mehra narrates the script of Rang De Basanti. If I was looking for a block buster hit, why I would have done that. Mehra's earlier film did do well at the B.O. So if i just want a 100 crore, why will i do it. Its not my approach.
You are known for your unique way of promotion but we haven't seen you promoting Talaash in a big way?
I think promoting a film is an important part of filmmaking. I don't think it is separate from that; it's an intrinsic part of that. Filmmaking is story telling. The more excited you are about the story you have, the more intense will be your attempt will be to get people's attention. For me that is why it is a part of filmmaking. If i am excited about Talaash, i want more people to see it. Marketing also depends on what the material is. Talaash is an intense drama so i don't want to be talking about the film everywhere. I want that suspense to be there, that's part of the promoting of the film. Sometimes being quiet also might promote it. Merely information is not promotion. I can create a desire by not being there too. The bottom line to create a desire. You need to be honest with the material

Aamir and Emraan: what is common?

The film has been generating a lot of curiosity due to its promos and the mystery surrounding it. Not many know that Aamir has been a keen follower of crime and investigative journalism and he thinks that they do a very commendable job in the tough circumstances. A close hand informs, .He would be meeting crime journalists in various cities and would interact with them, "He has been wanting to meet the top crime investigative journalists of the country since long and Talaash gives him the perfect opportunity to do so"
Well we all are waiting for this unique interaction between Aamir and crime reporters which will be certainly different from the one where Emraan declared his passion of dreaming to be one of them.. Stay tuned for more on this..

"When Aamir believes in 'Talaash', it is indeed something" - Rani

One can find Rani Mukerji in an animated conversation as she talks about 'Talaash' and her coming together with Aamir Khan once again after 'Ghulam' and 'Mangal Pandey'.
Though this is the first time that she is playing his wife on screen, visuals that have been released so far of the film pretty much indicate that the two of them aren't quite finding itself in a romantic outing and are instead trapped in a world of pathos.
What is also striking is the fact that despite the film boasting of huge stars like Aamir, Rani and Kareena, the USP is being tagged to the story which written on paper than actors who are facing the camera.
"Absolutely and that's a very good point being brought up", Rani says in her characteristic perky manner, "This is what I am telling everyone that when Aamir says yes to a film, it means something.
It pretty much reiterates the fact that even today a good story has a value attached to it. At times we don't think that such films could feature mainstream actors. However when Aamir signs it, you are assured that there is a room for filmmakers to come forward with a different story.
This is why Aamir could well be doing a 'Dhoom 3' but when someone of his calibre also believes in 'Talaash', it is indeed saying something."
However, very recently it was difficult to believe that an actress of her calibre was actually seen in a mish-mash of affairs called 'Aiyyaa'. Though the film was panned by one and all, Rani isn't willing to disown her film though and goes on to add that 'Aiyyaa' would stay on to be a memorable experience for her.
"Audience is the final judge and whatever be the results, I liked what I was doing in the film. There was a lot of fun during songs & dances and moreover audience too appreciated what I did on screen. That's good too", she smiles.
Now here is hoping that the results are much more heartening once 'Talaash' releases all over this Friday.

Tia wants to try non-horror genre

'Haunted', 'Lanka' and '1920 - Evil Returns'. Three releases, two hits; this is how Tia Bajpai's filmography stands ever since she burst into the Bollywood scene.
While it is apparent that her choice of roles has been unconventional so far, doesn't her heart pine for getting hold of some light hearted roles where she can get into some quintessential 'naachgaana' mode and playing a regular heroine?
"Well, it does", she says in a matter of fact tone, "When I see all these films where a heroine is dancing and romancing and generally feeling happy, it only sets me thinking that how would it be to be working in such films."
"After all, I have been doing horror and drama movies all this while and have learnt so much in these films that now I would definitely want to try every genre instead of sticking to one particular thing", she sighs, "Let's see when does that happen. Till then I am keeping my fingers crossed."
We too would wait to see you in a new avtar Tia. Her next release is 'Identity Card' which is a dark comedy.

'Peepli Live' helmer's next 'Opium'

Anusha Rizvi made the entire nation to sit up and take notice of her debut venture 'Peepli Live'; a satire on farmers' suicide. The well-acclaimed writer-filmmaker will soon be back with her next venture.
Titled 'Opium', Rizvi will be co-directing this project along with her husband Mahmood Farooqui.
The film is said to be based on Amitav Ghosh's novel and currently Rizvi is busy writing the script to adapt the story for the movie version.
According to sources, 'Opium' will be extensively shot in Bihar and Kolkata and it is expected to start its shooting some time in 2013

Abhay Deol turns actor for his debut production

The talented handsome Abhay Deol is gearing up to handle bigger responsibility. Abhay, who garnered critical acclaims for his non-commercial films, is turning into a producer.
But did you know this is not the first project for which he is handling the production section. Abhay incidentally had made his production debut with a film titled 'Basra' that unfortunately got shelved due to some financial issues.
So with renewed confidence Abhay is turning again his energies towards producing a movie, which is yet to be titled.
Apparently talks are that Abhay himself will play the lead hero, since this will be his maiden venture and he is keen to be economical."I'm making baby steps in production.
Being a first-time producer, I won't get a big star to work in those films. So I have to put myself in the film because of money constraints," the 'Shanghai' and 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' star stated in an interview.
Currently Abhay is working on Aanand L rai's 'Raanjhnaa'.

Shahrukh, Deepika a la modern Raj-Simran?

Like the famous Raj and Simran's train-catching sequence, here too the team shot a scene where SRK, instead of Kajol, helps Deepika to get into the moving train.
However sources from the unit clarified that although there is a resemblance, it's not an attempt to recreate the popular scene. "This happens to be an important part of the sequence of events," added the sources.
According to sources, the shooting took place in Vasco station and it was transformed to Kalyan Station. Deepika looked like a typical south-Indian girl - wearing half saree and two plaits.
Hmmm, Shahrukh and Deepika might try to reprise the iconic characters of Raj and Simran, but couldn't replace the classic romantic magic created by the 'DDLJ' scene... Right, folks?
'Chennai Express' is about a man who is on a journey from Mumbai to Rameshwaram and in the course of the movie meets with a south Indian girl.  The film is expected to be a Diwali 2013 release.

JTJH to cross 100 crores today, SOS by Monday

How the business has grown. Four years back when 'Ghajini' had broken the barrier and turned out to be the founding member of the 100 crore club, one wondered whether this was the beginning of something magical or just a spike. Circa 2012 and we have over 180 crores coming in just 10 days. Now that's what one would call magical.

Fair enough, so there will always be talks of increased number of multiplexes, increased screen count, higher ticket prices and more spending power. However all said and done, any and every film needs to have that 'something' to it that makes it succeed. JTHJ and SOS have shown that.
Yes, of course none of them is either a classic or a quintessential rollicking masala movie respectively. They aren't even as entertaining as some of the best films (and possibly revenue generating movies) released this year.
They aren't even finding universal acclaim coming their way. However, a part of this universe has at least stepped in to check out what the hype is all about. That has been good enough for both films to stay steady during the weekdays as well after a very good extended weekend of six days. As a result, both films have succeeded and turned out to be clean hits at the box office.
There were expectations of 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' to be achieving the 100 crore mark in it's first 10 days itself but the film fell short by a couple of crores. Still, at 98 crores, the film is now the third highest Shahrukh Khan grosser till date and would soon be highest ever by the end of second full week, hence putting behind 'Ra. One' and 'Don 2'. At 84 crores, 'Son of Sardaar' is also second consecutive success for Ajay Devgn and he is all set for a hat trick of 100 crore successes with 'Himmatwala' as his next release in March 2013.
Meanwhile it would be interesting to see how the film scores at the new single screens where it has just been released. Expectations are that by Monday, 'Son of Sardaar' too would cross 100 crores at the box office.

Ayushmann's wife helps him in choosing films

Ayushmann Khurrana may be in news for not-so-good reasons, what with filmmaker Kunal Kohli being left a tad disappointed with the actor bowing out of his next film.
While Ayushmann has stated his reasons for saying 'no' (owing to date clash with his 'Nautanki Saala'), the fact remains that even though it has been seven months since the release of his debut flick 'Vicky Donor', he has signed only one film (with Rohan Sippy). One wonders what is making him go slow.
"I will tell you what really is the reason", says Ayushmann, "See, on TV you can do a lot of things and still get away from it if things do not really turn out as per the plan. The attention span of audience there is not so high and they quickly switch on to something which is more interesting for them. On the other hand people don't forget when it comes to bad films."
He further reveals his strategy, "This is the reason why I read scripts twice or thrice before making decisions. In fact since my wife is an author, even she goes through the scripts that come to me. So yes, doing lesser films is definitely a conscious call."

Australia honours Amitabh Bachchan again

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan gets double lucky... Last year the veteran superstar was conferred with an honorary doctorate by the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia. Now again, Big B reported to have bagged another accolade from the country.

Recently the Australian government has honoured Mr. Bachchan for his contribution towards Indian cinema as well as for further enhancing the relations between the two countries.
Sharing the news on his micro-blogging site, an elated Big B wrote, "Another recognition by the Australian Government and its Commission here in Mumbai, in celebration for the 100 years of Indian Cinema, and my contribution towards fructifying the relations between the two countries...I am most humbled..."

Salman Khan & his four-legged co-star

Few days back speculations were rife that Sohail Khan's ambitious project, the Salman Khan starrer 'Sher Khan' is not going to take off.
Besides Salman, the movie boasts of having a tiger as the other lead. Talks were that owing to lack of availability of a Bengal Tiger the project has been canned. However of late Sohail clarified to sources that 'Sher Khan' is indeed happening.
Talking to sources in an interview Sohail revealed that 'Sher Khan' in fact is a two-hero project - one being Salman, the human tiger and the other one the animal.
Apparently since there will be issue for roping in a real tiger, the filmmaker is opting for computer-generated one. The team 'Sher Khan' is keen not to attract any problem from the Animal Welfare Board and so they are willing to go for the unreal tiger instead.
Besides they are also being cautious about Salman's neurological condition, which can trigger off from any kind of stress and hence they don't want to take any chances and are playing safe.
According to Sohail, 'Sher Khan' will go on floors in Jan 2013

Trek Fans, Fill in the Blanks: 'Star Trek Into Darkness' Synopsis Revealed

The promise of an "epic chess game" may not be the biggest sell for fans of explosive blockbuster action, but we're guessing in the case of Star Trek Into Darkness, the phrase might be more of a metaphor. Then again, they pulled it off in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
Whether Captain Kirk, Spock, and the rest of the U.S.S. Enterprise will be facing off in the classic board game, the other tantalizing teases made in the sequel's newly released official synopsis (below) are enough to leave this Searching for Bobby Fischer fan sufficiently stoked. Director J.J. Abrams retakes the captain's chair for Star Trek Into Darkness with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Zoe Saldana all returning for another round of intergalactic adventuring. Benedict Cumberbatch joins the cast as a villain who has, miraculously in the age of paparazzi photos and Internet leaks, remained a mystery even after shooting has wrapped. The below synopsis is our first bit of info on what classic character (or new creation?) Cumberbatch will play in the film:

In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.
With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.
As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
So we beam it to you, Trekkers: does Cumberbatch's baddie, apparently "from within" Starfleet, remind you of any existing characters? Who will be the Black King to Kirk's White Bishop, and what is the personal grudge enveloping it all?
We'll find out when Star Trek Into Darkness arrives in theaters on May 17, 2013, or perhaps even sooner, when the movie gets its first tease on IMAX screens this December.

'Moonrise Kingdom' Takes Top Prize at Gotham Awards

Skirting over the sheer absurdity in the fact that The Dark Knight Rises wasn't even nominated for any Gotham Awards (it takes place there, for Pete's sake!), this year's incarnation of the Independent Feature Project's ceremony for recognizing cinematic excellence offered up some pretty worthy victors. The 22nd Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards took place Monday night with comedian and filmmaker Mike Birbiglia (Sleepwalk with Me) playing host. Snagging the coveted Best Feature title for the year of 2012 was the revered indie hit from community mainstay Wes Anderson, Moonrise Kingdom.

The 1960s-set romantic comedy, focused on a pair of renegade preteens who whisk one another away from their respective scout troops and unfulfilling home lives, was nominated back in October alongside venerable candidates The Master, Bernie, The Loneliest Planet, and Middle of Nowhere. Anderson's spirited, offbeat flick (which boasts a cast of Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Edward Norton, Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, Bob Balaban, and two of Hollywood's most spectacular new assets, Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward), took the top prize, contributing to buzz surrounding its potential for nods come Academy Award season

Next the remake of Meena Kumari starrer 'Mere Apne'

Yet another remake is going to have an entry on the big screen. The super hit of 1971 'Mere Apne', starring late Meena Kumari, Vinod Khanna and Shatrughan Sinha in lead, is the one which is next going to have the new version.
According to sources, producer Sunil Bohra has purchased the film's rights from the original producers Romu and Raj Sippy. 'Mere Apne', incidentally, is the directorial debut of Gulzar and Meena Kumari's last film.
The story of the film deals with two warring gangsters who come together for their love for a lonely, abandoned woman (Meena Kumari). Apparently the script of the remake will be twisted to suit the contemporary audience.
It is said that both Romu and Raj were initially apprehensive to part with the film's rights. However Bohra managed to convince them impressively and bought the remake rights for a whopping amount of Rs.1 crore.
While the cast and crew of 'Mere Apne' remake is yet to finalised, names of A-list actors Imran Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan is making rounds.

2012: The Year in Apocalyptic Movies, TV, and Books

December 21, 2012. The end of the world. You've heard chatter about this date for a couple of years now, likely in the form of vociferous warnings from the itinerant madman who is just articulate enough to make you think on the subject. Surely, you don't subscribe to the philosophy, but that doesn't quell your fascination. It's hard not to take interest. Way back when, a group of Mayans proclaimed the 21st day of December in our very own Christian calendar's year of 2012 to be the onset of the apocalypse. Or at least, some time since the Mayans made their proclamation of whatever date it'd be to kick off a good old-fashioned Armageddon, modern scientists miscalculated that prediction to land on Dec. 21.

There are a slew of divergent accounts flying around — the world will end next month; the world won't end next month, but the world as we know it will; nothing will happen next month, but on a separate date allotted by the Mayans, or Nostradamus, or Miss Cleo, or your friend Brian; and then, as the majority of the free world probably thinks, the world isn't really going to end. Not for a long while. Not until the sun does its whole implosion shtick, which shouldn't even take place until humans are long dead from whatever would have happened to us in Wall-E were not for the heroism of Wall-E. It doesn't matter to which category you belong — in one way or another, the apocalypse-to-be has cemented a presence in your life

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Won't Play Batman in 'Justice League,' But We Can Dream...

When Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s John Blake stepped into the Batcave at the end of The Dark Knight Rises, the speculation began. Would Blake take over the cape and mask from Bruce Wayne, who was presumed dead (though actually off living the dream with Selina Kyle at a picturesque café in Europe)? Or was it a tease for fans along with a well-played metaphor for the character's legacy?

On Tuesday, rumors that Gordon-Levitt would step into the shoes of Batman in the upcoming Justice League movie picked up steam thanks to reports that Gordon-Levitt would establish his version of the character first in a cameo in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. But Hollywood.com checked in with Gordon-Levitt's reps who have refuted the rumor entirely. For now, The Dark Knight Rises actor's continued involvement in the DC Movie Universe remains a fan dream.

But hey, we can dream, right?

From a continuity standpoint, this casting choice would make a lot of sense, and bridges the gap between Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy (which bowed this summer with TDKR), Snyder’s Superman reboot Man of Steel, and the upcoming DC Comics superhero roundup Justice League, which hits theaters in 2015. Justice League is going to be the Avengers of the DC Comics world, combining the skills and talents of Superman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman into one film. And while the casting choices for the superheroes are still up in the air, the writing team may be locked down sooner than we think: Nolan is a producer on Snyder and Warner Bros.’ Man of Steel, which may just be the introduction to the Justice League blockbuster. Talk about continuity.

But is Gordon-Levitt the right fit to take up the caped crusader’s mission? In the past, the iconic cowl has been taken up by many actors, and some worked better than others...

The first full-length theatrical adaptation of Batman premiered in 1966 starring Adam West, who also portrayed a campy version of the superhero in the ABC series that ran from 1966 to 1968. West was never able to escape from under the shadow of Batman, however, and was severely typecast for the rest of his career.

The 1989 film Batman, directed by Tim Burton, starred Michael Keaton, who had previously made a name for himself as a comedic actor, causing controversy that he would not be able to shoulder such a serious role. The doubters were silenced when Batman grossed over $400 million, received positive reviews, and won an Academy Award for Best Art Direction. The 1992 sequel, Batman Returns, had generally positive reviews but earned less than its first installment.

1995’s Batman Forever went in a new direction, with Val Kilmer as the titular hero. The film had mixed reviews, but was considered a box office success earning over $350 million worldwide and three Academy Award nominations. Filming for 1997’s Batman and Robin began immediately following Batman Forever, but because of scheduling conflicts Kilmer did not reprise his role. George Clooney took up the caped crusader instead. The film remains to be the least-commercially successful Batman movie, and it is also widely considered to be the worst superhero film of all time.

Nolan’s Batman trilogy took on a darker and more realistic view of the superhero. 2005’s Batman Begins, 2008’s The Dark Knight, and 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises all showed Christian Bale’s Batman as a relatable human who ages and could be broken, only to rise up and conquer fear. Nolan's trilogy is regarded as the best incarnation of Batman, and with Nolan attached to Man of Steel, we have high hopes that Justice League's Batman will exceed expectations, especially if Gordon Levitt wears the cape and mask.

Man of Steel flies into theaters June 14, 2013, and Justice League is planned to bow summer of 2015. Gordon-Levitt may not end up in either, but like Batman, casting rumors continue to lurk in the shadows.

What makes Imran Khan the choice of youngistaan...  designer clothes, slick wheels, trendy gadgets... super intelligence nah... it's the simple looks and attitude which is attracting many young legs all over especially the females..
The choice of the youngistaan Imran is flooded with lot of invites to various youth summits and college festivals across India.
Every college has been sending invites to ask him to be face of youngistan campaigns. But Imran is busy enhancing his skills as an actor and the future seems to reserve some space for praise as the actor is ready to face the challenge with full grace where he will be playing a tough Haryanvi in 'Matru ki Bijli Ka Mandola' , a gangster in 'Once upon a time in Mumbai again' , and versatike charecters in Milan Talkies and Punit Malhotra's next...
Imran has not much time for his followers but his office is trying to figure out something for his loyals.. When asked the reason for this following Imran in all humbleness says, " I don't wear designer clothes, I am a very simple looking guy; I wear T-shirts, jeans and canvas shoes.
I can be anybody on screen people see and identify themselves, their friend, and brother in me. Because I am not pretending and trying to do what I am not. Less glamorous, don,t play larger than life characters." Well that's true the young see them in you dear Imran.. keep impressing the youngistaan

Minissha turns to Harayanvi

With each movie an actor evolves. Not only they get to wear new characters but also learn a lot in the process of filmmaking, which can be quite tough. And we bet our very own pretty girl-next-door Minissha Lamba will be able to vouch for that.
Of late Minissha attended a workshop not just to learn Haryanvi but also to perfect the accent in her forthcoming film 'Zilla Ghaziabad'.
Minissha goes bilingual but learning a new language for the film was one of the most difficult tasks for the actress. For 'Zilla Ghaziabad', she was trained in Haryanvi by a professional trainer.
"The movie was an enriching experience. I play a glamorous, forward woman from Ghaziabad, who speaks the typical dialect of the district. It doesn't take as much of an effort to get a hang of it, since I am basically a girl of the north but it was totally worth the effort." says Minissha Lamba.
This is not the first time that this girl is going through training for her role; she had taken swimming lessons for Kidnap as well as she learnt Dakini for 'Well Done Abba'.
These days looks like B-town is smitten by the Harayanvi bug. While we have been getting impressed with Imran Khan's new Haryanvi avatar in 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola', now let's make way for this Harayanvi kudi...
Being directed by Anand Kumar, 'Zilla Ghaziabad' stars Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Vivek Oberoi, and Rajpal Yadav, besides Minissha.

2012: How Hollywood's Archery Obsession Actually Impacted the Sport

Al Lizzio has been in the archery business for 50 years, managing Queen's Archery in New York City for nearly half that time. Amazingly, he's never seen a year as successful a year for sport quite like 2012.
"The last year has been unbelievable," Lizzio says. "It's just exploded. The only word I can use to describe it."
The bow and arrow has been a staple of entertainment since the early days of cinema — what's more adventurous than Errol Flynn letting an arrow fly in 1938's Robin Hood? — but 2012 saw an upsurge in the lo-fi weapon that took the sport of archery to the front of pop culture consciousness. Starting with the tremendous success of The Hunger Games, the sport became a defining icon of the year, so much so that the effects are visible outside the theater.
According to Lizzio, Queens Archery has given 7,000 lessons since the release of The Hunger Games, a brand that's now a vital part of the range's promotion through deal sites like Groupon.com. Even more impressive is that 80% of the coupons were purchased by women. "Women are the majority of the people who are coming in now, which had never been before," Lizzio says. "Archery was always a representation of men shooting bows and arrows at war or men shooting for hunting purposes. Now we're getting a lot of women coming in realizing they can do it on a recreational level and on an equal level with men."
Butch Johnson, a five time Olympian who took home the gold medal in archery in 1996 and now runs Hall's Arrow Indoor Archery Range in Manchester, Connecticut, has also seen the ripple effect of Hollywood's obsession with archery. "Our range, and others like it, have had a terrific growth in business this year, and it's definitely due to the success of films like The Hunger Games and Brave, and shows like [CW's] Arrow," Johnson says. "Our youth and adult archery classes are completely full, with nearly 200 archers per week taking classes with us."
Denise Parker, an Olympic bronze medalist and CEO of USA Archery, an organization that supports U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes and promotes training in the sport by vetted instructors, suggests the trend is nationwide. "The attention our sport has received over the past year has literally transformed our sport from backyard to mainstream overnight," Parker says. "Keeping up with the demand is really our focus now." And the demand is apparent: in 2012, USA Archery saw a huge increase in participation of their National Target Championships, rising from 171 youths in 2001 to 357 youths in 2012. Individual membership to their to organization has also grown to 5,522 members — a 25% since December 2011.
Adding to the momentum of archery in the media was the Summer Olympics in London, where the sport captured eager audiences viewing from home. In August, NBC announced that archery was their most viewed sport on cable, with an average of 1.5 million viewers per airing. The total eclipsed popular sports like basketball

The sudden emergence of the bow and arrow in pop culture has positively invigorated fans to pick it up in real life, but the trained archers hope that newfound interest pushes Hollywood to better represent the sport in the future. "Brave obviously benefited from technical advice that made archery look excellent and authentic in that movie, but other films and television shows would strongly benefit from receiving technical advice from an archer," Johnson says. Archery is not a one-bow-fits-all sport — Johnson notes that if an archer in a film uses a compound bow, he should work with a compound archer. If they shoot instinctively (without sights), work with an archer who understands instinctive shooting. Simple.
While The Avengers' Hawkeye may have been deemed an awful archer by the sports standards and Oliver Queen's form barely registers during action scenes on Arrow, the dreams of professional archers are seeping into Hollywood productions. Last year, four-time Olympian Khatuna Lorig was hired to beef up Jennifer Lawrence's archery skills in The Hunger Games. She consulted on making the action more realistic, a far cry from fantasy and sci-fi of the past. The Georgia-born archer has a particular gripe with Lord of the Rings. "[You] can't shoot with two arrows and like that." So 2012 wasn't just about archery, it was about realistic archery.
Lizzio welcomes the enthusiasm spurred by pop culture that now surrounds his sport, but he believes there's a reason filmmakers and fans have gravitated towards the bow and arrow in the first place. "The movies spurred an interest, but the interest was there to begin with," Lizzio says. "I believe we all have an interest in archery in us. It's basic to the human nature. It's been my belief that everyone on the planet knows archery in some shape or form. It's just that they don't know where to experience it."

'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' First Look: The Quarter Quell Begins! — PICS

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire began filming in Maui, Hawaii, on Monday after wrapping in Atlanta earlier this month, and we have a first look at the beginning of the third quarter quell! Check out these just released photos of the start of the 75th annual Hunger Games.

In the Hunger Games sequel, adapted from Suzanne Collin’s hit YA novel, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) finds herself back in the arena when President Snow (Donald Sutherland) announces that this year’s tributes are to be reaped from the remaining victors. Since District 12 has only one female victor, Katniss is thrust back into the subject of her nightmares for another go at the Hunger Games

This year’s arena is set on a tropical island, and the cornucopia bloodbath takes place in the water. This offers a unique advantage to sea-faring districts when the tributes are forced to swim to shore. District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) doesn’t know how to swim, and the first alliance is formed when Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin) helps him stay afloat, and alive

Also pictured is Lynn Cohen playing Mags, an elderly female victor with bite from District 4 (the same fishing district from which Finnick hails). Mags joins the unlikely alliance with Finnick, Peeta, and Katniss, along with a few other surprising tributes.

The wetsuit-inspired outfits look extremely useful in the conditions the tributes are dropped in, as well as all-around awesome. The uniform is streamlined and simple, giving the tributes a badass look. We also get a glimpse of Katniss wielding her legendary weapon of choice, a bow and arrow. I don't envy the tribute on the receiving end of that point

Bollywood gupshup - The tidbits

This is your one stop shop for the latest happenings in the town. The buzz. The release plans. The launches. The works.
Yes, this is serious business and we will bring to you the most reliable information twice a week. Have a dekko.
- Though much hullabaloo is being made about 'Talaash' eating into 'Khiladi 786' screens, all such theatres are unfounded and both are finding a good release for themselves

Emraan Hashmi continues to be super occupied

After releasing four films this year (Jannat 2, Shanghai, Raaz 3, Rush) and almost finishing shoot for two films (Ghanchakkar, Ek Thi Daayan), Emraan Hashmi is continuing to be engaged practically every day of his life. Currently working on 'Unglee' which is produced by Karan Johar and directed by Rensil D'Silva (of 'Kurbaan' fame), Emraan is super occupied but is liking it all.
"I mean it is nice to be working on a film like 'Unglee'", says Emraan who has Sanjay Dutt, Randeep Hooda, Kangana Ranaut and Neha Dhupia for company, "Rensil is a very sorted director and what impresses me most is that he is very intelligent guy as well. Moreover, it is always good to be working with new people as they come up with fresh ideas. Also, they bring to fore new things about your own self and acting prowess; it is a new discovery altogether."
Another person who is new to Emraan is Deepika Padukone who is expected to be his co-star in another one of Karan Johar's production which would go on floors after the shooting of 'Unglee' is through.
"Well, I can't say much about it because Karan would be making the final announcement around my co-stars in the film", Emraan keeps himself in check here.
Meanwhile his next release 'Ek Thi Daayan' is still close to half a year ahead where he would be coming together with Kalki Koechelin (yet again after 'Shanghai'), Konkona Sen and Huma Qureshi. While the film is all set for April arrival, audience would be particularly looking forward to 'Ghanchakkar' where he reunites with his 'The Dirty Picture' co-star Vidya Balan. The film releases in June and by that time, Vidya would be pretty much married to Siddharth Roy Kapur.
Now one waits how Emraan as well as Vidya keep the passion element in check for this comedy which is expected to be quite quirky and unique in it's own self

There are certain characters that have become inextricably affiliated with art films, or at least films of similar high regard. These characters are often dealing with extreme emotional turmoil and their life journeys raise profound questions about the human condition. But when listing the types of characters that tend to populate movies with praiseworthy artistic sensibilities, hitmen would have a rather lengthy wait before hearing their name mentioned. This is unjust.
Since the golden age of the western, and then into the height of the Warner Gangster movies, we have developed an affinity for outlaws — and hitmen would certainly qualify as such. The idea of centering a film on an antihero who kills people for a living may seem a function of baser exploitation, but the fact is that some truly outstanding films, well deserving of being lauded as works of art, have featured all manner of assassins (and this week’s Killing Them Softly may join their ranks). So how do these films separate themselves from the cheaper action shoot-em-ups that might also revolve around contract killers?
The Duality of Humanizing
The most recognizable difference between a multifaceted, morally ambiguous protagonist, and a reprehensible or one-note killer meant to please the groundlings , is the degree to which the filmmaker humanizes that character. It is a means of adding complexity and, in some cases, uneasy amiability to characters our moral compass should have us rejecting outright. The interesting thing about some of the truly great films about assassins, however, is that the injection of humanity doesn’t have to absolve their sins.
In Luc Besson’s Leon, Jean Reno plays a ruthless hitman who, against his better judgment, takes in the daughter, played by Natalie Portman, of a recently murdered couple. His relationship with Portman allows the audience to forgive him his murderous occupation. Luc Besson adeptly plays with the gray moral standards by having Leon’s twelve-year-old ward discover and accept his profession. Leon’s commitment to protecting her, and indeed to maintaining her happiness, makes him incredibly empathetic and we no longer see him as merely a mass murderer for hire.
But humanizing a character does not always result in a good guy. Take Anton Chigurh in The Coen Brothers’ No Country for Old Men. Javier Bardem does an amazing job portraying Chigurh as, not so much an assassin, but as a force of Biblical wrath; something Old Testament that cannot be deterred by any interference from mankind. And yet, the last we see of Chigurh, he’s wounded in a completely boneheaded car accident and limps into the sunset. Do we like Chigurh as a result? No. But this moment makes the monster mortal; adding a layer of nuance and density to that role. It also plays perfectly into the Coens’ darkest of senses of humor.

Speak The Speech, I Dare You
These two differing tactics for humanizing your hitmen actually coalesce in Pulp Fiction. We do like Jules and Vincent, but we have no illusions about their turpitude. One could argue in fact that the moment we like them most is when they nearly irrevocably screw up that hit by accidentally shooting Marvin in the face. They become more relatable at that point, more human; who hasn’t messed up on the job? However, there is also something to be said for the dialogue elevating a standard and, fittingly, pulpy hitman story.
There is a classic-style ritual to the way particularly Jules carries out his assignments. He recites Bible passages in a slowly building monologue that serves as the victim’s last rites. Is it immensely quotable? Absolutely, but this dialogue isn’t just for spectacle. The pulse of Pulp Fiction is in its language, its vocabulary and specificity of referential jargon. So much of the character-building necessary to make something more of a fimic killer is tied up in what they say and how they say it. Actions may speak louder than words, but ask yourself this question: once Jules is done delivering his thunderous sermon, do we ever see one bullet enter the victim to whom he is preaching?

Death: The Ultimate Punchline
Let us again examine the Coens and their, shall we say, advanced sense of humor, which tends to turn up in even the most somber of situations. Fargo is absolutely a comedy, and astonishingly we even find ourselves laughing at hitman Steve Buscemi in a wood chipper. There is something to be said for these darkly comedic approaches allowing us to subconsciously deal more directly with our own mortality. We laugh at death to take at least an ounce out of the sting of its inevitability.
Similarly, we are given leave to laugh at death in films like In Bruges and Grosse Point Blank, two fundamentally great films about assassins. The wisecracking, sometimes farcical hitmen we see in such films don’t just aid in our unspoken coping with the big sleep. These films are great because the universal themes our more flawed hitters represent make them more organic and tangible. We might not be able to say we’ve ever collected on a death contract, but bad vacations and the discomfort of a high school reunion? Those are obstacles we’ve had to check off our own hit list.
Killer Codes
Again, by the according-to-Hoyle notions of right and wrong, assassins are less than exemplary, but that does not necessarily mean they are bereft of honor. What tends to account for the elevated auteur nature of the truly great cinematic hitmen is their adherence to their own personal codes. Leon’s number one rule would be echoed by many hitters in films both prior to and following Besson’s film: no women, no kids. It’s may be a simple edict, but the moral divide between audience and criminal protagonist shrinks considerably at its employment.
But these codes can often be stricter and more elaborate. Jean-Pierre Melville’s Le Samourai tells the story of a French killer who abided by a Spartan, or rather Samurai, existence free of all extravagance. Another killer who followed closely to the ancient Bushido was Jim Jarmusch’s Ghost Dog. These are characters that live outside the law, but their self-imposed ethics make them respectable. The demise of these characters usually follows a rare lapse in their abiding by their own codes; Charles Bronson in The Mechanic could certainly attest to that.

Ajay Devgn has good words for Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi Sinha continues to count her successes and now she has three of them to her name - Son of Sardaar, Rowdy Rathore and Dabangg - with 'Joker' as the only commercial let down.
With Sonakshi finding some good visibility for herself in 'Son of Sardaar', especially in the first half, she has managed to make further progress in her Bollywood stint as a quintessential heroine.
No wonder, she is finding some good testimonial coming her way via her 'Son of Sardaar' co-star Ajay Devgn as well.
"I know that she has played a quintessential heroine in most of her films so far but the best part is that she is someone who is so natural in front of the camera. I could see that in the very first shot that she gave for 'Son of Sardaar'.
I personally believe that natural performances work more that something which is learned or rehearse. Ek aur bhi zyaada honesty aa jaati hai agar aap natural hain", says Ajay.
He continues, "There was scope for performance in 'Son of Sardaar' and Sonakshi proved that. She has many more years ahead of her to sink her teeth into something even more challenging."
We look forward to that as well

With that respect, Subhash Ghai will be visiting Chandigarh on November 30th,  Friday, and not only address the media to reveal his big plans for his next directorial venture, but shall also begin his hunt for a new heroine to play the title role of KAANCHI.

Avengers aren't the only ones who get to assemble. X-Men: First Class producer Bryan Singer announced via Twitter on Tuesday that his main players from that film Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult will all return to revive their roles for the upcoming film X-Men: Days of Future Past. Singer, who will direct the fifth X-Men film (sixth, if you count the retroactive sequel Wolverine), told followers "I'd like to officially welcome back James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, & Nicholas Hoult to #XMEN for #DaysOfFuturePast."

That wasn't the only good news about actor reprisals that Singer had for X-Men fans when he also posted, "Thrilled to announce @ianmckellen118 & @SirPatStew are joining the cast of #XMEN #DaysOfFuturePast #magneto #professorX." That's right, young Magneto (Fassbender) and young Professor X (McAvoy) will be in the same film as old Magneto (Sir Ian McKellen) and old Professor X (Sir Patrick Stewart). In fact, with Days of Future Past's time travel plot line, it's very possible that the two pairs could meet (and also make our heads spin with timeline logic).

With so many stars and characters returning for the First Class sequel, could that mean that we'll also see a variation Ellen Page's Kitty Pryde (a major character in the Days of Future Past comic book) in the picture as well? If the recent announcement is any indication, anything is possible
